Common misconceptions about shower toilet bidet seats

1. Bidet Seats are Difficult to Install - Many people are initially hesitant to buy a bidet seat because they believe it will require an extensive installation process. That couldn't be further from the truth. Many people think it is an entire toilet or even a separate standalone unit, not true! As long as you can take off your toilet seat and unscrew the existing toilet supply line, you're golden! Installation requires no additional plumbing work and can usually be done in less than 20 minutes. The most difficult part may be unscrewing the existing supply line, especially if your toilet is of the older variety, but don't fear, any neighborhood strong boy can get the job done! Bidet seats also feature a quick release which allows you to easily take it off to clean anytime.
2. Bidet Seats are a Permanent Installation - Another common issue that holds people back from purchasing a bidet is that they are renting or will be moving soon. Well since bidet seats are just fancier toilet seats, they can easily be uninstalled and re-installed at anytime. Making sure the old and new toilets are the same size (round/elongated) is the main issue with switching the toilet you have your bidet seat on.
3. Bidet Seats Require an Electrical Outlet Next to the Toilet - While it is ideal to have a GFCI outlet within 4 ft of your toilet, there are other options if that is not the case for you. It is acceptable to use a heavy duty extension cord to the nearest GFCI outlet in your bathroom. If you plan on having your bidet seat for years and years, it would probably be better to have an electrician install a new GFCI outlet near your toilet, cost varies depending on the bathroom.
4. Bidet Seats are Expensive - Five years ago this was a true statement, the cheapest bidet seat you could find was over £700. Price has since come down considerably while quality has only gotten better. The Dib Daewon J500 is our entry level electric bidet seat and is only £280, while the Coway BAS16 has all the features of a £600 bidet washlet, but only at £350,26! You can also get non-electric bidet seats which offer many of the same benefits without requiring electricity, they are only £99.
5. Bidet Seats will Increase your Utility Bills Significantly - While bidet seats do require electricity and water to operate, the cost will be covered (and then some) by the money you save by not buying as much toilet paper. It is estimated that bidet seats will only increase your electricity bill by £12 annually and you will save over £40/person on toilet paper in that same time. Bidet seats are also becoming more energy efficient every year and usually feature a convenient power save mode. One use of the bidet usually uses about 1/8th of a gallon of water, only a fraction of what a normal flush requires. We recommend tankless water heating bidets for maximum energy efficiency.
